New York State of Mind

After recently discovering that the Hebrew word for 'journey' is literally my name "derek", I am not surprised that I'll be headed to New York City in 6 weeks.  I've had dreams about being there and doing ministry there.  As I prayed about what the Lord wanted to do, I got the number 5,000.  So needless to say, my team of 11 are believing for 5,000 salvations.  Hard to think possible when you're only in a location for only 2 months.  But after all, don't we serve a big God.  Is he not the same God today as he was in the early church.  When thousands were being added to the church on a daily basis.

Ephesians 1:17 says, "I KEEP asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." I've read this verse over and over the last year and a half and just this week, I got a revelation that Paul said, 'I KEEP' asking.  I believe whole-heartedly that this is one of the most important scriptures in the Bible pertaining to our relationship with the Lord.  Without revelation of who he is, we won't know him and we in turn won't know who we are.  The thing I think about is, one revelation could sustain me because one facet of God can totally blow my mind for the rest of eternity, but he's so big that we need more revelation; constant revelation of who he is if we want to continue to know him.  A. W. Tozer said that all of eternity won't be enough time to know him fully.  So as I kept asking for more of a revelation, the Lord gave me a vision of when the Father asked the Son if he would carry the weight of the world on his shoulders.  If he would go down to earth and die for our sins.  All of heaven stopped and waited with great anticipation.  Because they knew if Jesus said yes, hope would be established again.  Eternal life in heaven would finally be possible.  The Father's dream of intimacy with man could be reestablished.  He didn't have to say yes.  He could have said no and the Father would have had to find a different way.  But hallelujah he said YES! All of heaven rejoiced at his simple yes.  It was Jesus' simple obedience, his simple yes that changed the world and its our same simple obedience that will do the same.  You see, these 5,000 souls we are believing for won't come because of our zeal or our awesome preaching; it will come from our simple yes!
