I've been to the Rocky Mountains, Yosemite, the Grand Canyon and many other beautiful places on God's beautiful earth. But none quite as breathtaking as Mauna Kea. This weekend was my birthday and a few friends and I rented a 4X4 truck and made the two hour trip to the highest point in Hawaii. When I told a friend I was going, he told me it would change my life. I had no idea what was to come.
We made it to the peak of the mountain with plenty of time to get a good spot to watch the sunset. Being 14,000 feet in altitude, we were able to see the sun set on top of the clouds. It literally felt like we were on top of the world. It took a good 30 minutes for the sun to completely disappear. Not much later, the stars started to appear. By 8 o'clock, it seemed like I was seeing more stars in one moment than I had all my life. The temperature started to drop, really fast. Four of us jumped in the bed of the truck with our sleeping bags and had some major male bonding time.
After I got enough warmth from the bro-mance, I got out of the truck to check out more of the stars. As we blasted worship music out of the truck, it was impossible to not feel the presence of God. I love being in God's creation. Its where I am able to feel His presence the strongest. God started to speak to me. I was blown away that the Creator of the universe, the God that created those billions of stars...Loves me!! He created the stars in one day, but He loves me.
This morning in the prayer room, my heart started beating heavily. I felt as though I was out of breathe. I literally felt like my heart was about to explode. At 5 minutes til 8, I made my way over to Monday morning corporate worship. I knew I couldn't really interact with people, so I found a semi-secluded spot on the far side of the gym. I couldn't even sing. I felt like I was out of my mind. 30 minutes into worship I began to weep uncontrollably like a baby. Ephesians 1:17 became real. "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." I was unable to function at full capacity for the next hour or two. The greatest thing about all of this, is that God's love is never-ending. That means we can never stop being filled with it and never stop receiving the revelation of who He is and how much He loves us. This is my prayer that the body of Christ would receive the same revelation. That we would all encounter God in this way. And that we would make it a lifestyle, to live in His presence. Living in His presence is essential to creating revival in our environment.
